Hello again. As I previously wrote in my PRESENTATION, classics are part of the foundations that helped me grow in this hobby that I have for cars.
Being a boy of only 6 I spent summers in England and there I could feel that culture of absolute adoration for classic cars, on weekends with meeting fans at a simple clearing (in the best case in some old airstrip) sharing stories and showing their beloved jewels, more or less valuable.
At that time my father drove a big car which was obviously smitten. More than thirty years have passed and the car still with my family, more specifically in my garage. One day I fell like a rookie making the suggestion that "it was a shame to have it standing abandoned in a garage", and of course, I dropped the predictable phrase "if you fix it, you'll keep it" ...
It is a BMW 635csi model year 83 (E24) - the E24 naming is nothing but an internal code, which over time and with the repeated names of different cars in all brands, have served to quickly identify the number and each model year to which it belongs, because there are two 635 series, not to mention 530 (E12, E28, E34, E39, E60 / 1, F10 / 1/8 ...) or mercedes chassis codes W.
After quite a few repairs, not as minors are less important (trimmed interior ceiling, exhaust, brakes, tires and some more little details) about three years ago I recovered to my full enjoyment (and my daughters because they love "the red car"). From there you start worrying about the little details, such as the elimination of that "so eighties" mobile phone antenna, a handyman who had placed it in the trunk lid, piercing the plate ... or search for a device equivalent to the original radio, already at the time was a optional equipment Becker Mexico.
I can assure you that only the smell of leather then, is unlike any current model (it was also the optional Buffalo trim), thickness own skin, it shows the league's decline in quality that has since undergone .
In my case, it is purely a car ride, sounds beautiful, has a great touch, both management and position on the road, everything works, everything weighs ...
I have to confess that I have battery tweezers in the trunk, but nothing is perfect ...
I think it has a beautiful line, an attractive aesthetic that still attracts some eyes, usually some nostalgic, like me, knowing what it is, what I can say, really captivating.
Sometimes I also take the cover out of a E31 ... (sorry ... a 850i), but really, is not the same, if you already know it's a V12, I know there are 300HP instead of 218, but it lacks ... something missing ... breed?
I have a plan, which is comparing it with the current range of BMW coupes, series 2, 4 and 6 (almost nothing, huh?) I would like to relate their similarities, size, weight / power ratio, and there goes my bet without having comparison data, I opted for the closest thing is the new series 4, with some intermediate engine type 428 or the like ...
We´ll see soon ...
